John Flores' End of Summer: Stone Steps
Born in New York, John's family moved to Venezuela when he was four. He has been in the ocean since he can first remember. Surfing, swimming, fishing, diving, paddling, and bodysurfing the Mar Caribe’s warm water. He came back to the US in 1980 to go to UC Berkeley grad school. Now, long time Cardiff Reef surfer, semi retired from real work, and his kids grown, he paints.
"I tried to capture the feeling from the lineup, waiting for the next wave, and taking in the peace and beauty of the moment. I feel that the surfer’s view, looking back towards the shore, on the edge between land and ocean, is a unique perspective. I aim to recreate the feeling of distance from the shore, or from everyday life, as well as the dance of the sky and shore reflections on the water. Which always seem to be changing with the never ending moods of the ocean."
John's work is available in water color fine art paper, as well as canvas gallery wraps. His work is available in multiple sizes.
