Of
Swedish parentage, Thor
Jonsson was born in Paris in
1976. After completing
training as a carpenter, Thor
traveled extensively for a
number of years, making a
living as a dive master. This
period, in a sense, set the
stage for his calling for
photography. He graduated from
the Kent Institute of Art
& Design in Rochester,
England, earning a degree in
Editorial & Advertising
Photography. Since then, Thor
has been devoting his time
almost exclusively to
producing images. He travels
to surf and photograph for
several months at a time each
year, adding only a few select
images to his portfolio with
every trip. His works have
appeared worldwide in
publications such as The
Surfer's Path,
Adrenalin Magazine
and The Way of the
Surfer. Thor is currently
based in Stockholm, where he
runs his own gallery.
