Howard Kirk grew up surfing in Huntington Beach, California. Howard and his friends traveled the California Coast in search of perfect waves.
"From Santa Cruz to Baja, we would camp out on the beach and surf. My mom was an artist and I used to watch her paint beautiful mountains scenes on canvas and living room walls. In school I remember drawing cartoon waves on my notebook, as I would day dream about surfing. In 2001, A friend invited me to an art store to buy some supplies, and at the store I bought a canvas and oils and gave painting a try. Since surfing has been such a big part of my life I first painted a wave from Teahupo’o, Tahiti, known as the "heaviest wave ever ridden". My friends encouraged me to continue, so I set out to paint “portraits" of the different waves from around the world. I love surfing and sharing the experience through painting. I attempt to capture the beauty and power of the ocean as it collides majestically with the shore"
Blessings of Peace and Aloha to all my friends and surf family, Howard
